Salmonella Antisera

Salmonella Grouping Antisera:

Salmonella Grouping Antisera are used to classify Salmonella into various groups such as A, B, C1, C2, D, E F, G, H, I, A-I & Vi according to somatic O antigen present. The Salmonella polyvalent antisera (poly O A-G) is a pooled preparation of antisera against Salmonella O group antigen for preliminary screening.

Antisera against Vi polysaccharide ( Vi antisera) is used to detect Vi polysaccharide antigen in some of Salmonella serovars.

Description:

Salmonella diagnostic antisera are raised in rabbit and consist of O antisera (monovalent O:2, O:4,O:9 & Polyvalent O A-G), H antisera (H:a, H:b, H:d,H:i) and Vi antisera .Cross reaction of Salmonella antisera are removed by absorbing cross reacting agglutinins. These antisera are filter sterilized (0.22µm) and available in 1ml ampoule containing 0.01 % thiomersal as preservative.

Product:

Antisera O:2 O:4 O:9 H:a H:b H:d H:i Vi Poly O A-G)
Packing 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml 1 ml

Composition::

  • Antisera raised in rabbit of standard strains of Salmonella species.
  • Thiomersal 0.01 % as preservative
  • Titer - 1:80
  • Polyvalent O(A-G) – only for slide agglutination test

Intended use:

Determination of Salmonella serotype.

Principle of the test:

When this reagent is mixed with Salmonella strain which has antigens corresponding to the reagent, the antigen antibody reaction occurs to produce agglutination. This reaction is macroscopically observed to determine each serotype.

Warnings and Precautions

  1. These reagents are provided for in vitro diagnostic use only.
  2. Do not use beyond the expiry date.
  3. Wear appropriate protective clothing while handling infectious organisms.
  4. Thiomersal is toxic if ingested.
  5. Do not freeze the antisera. Freezing and thawing may produce precipitation and result in loss of activity of the reagent.

Storage:

Salmonella antisera should be stored at 2-8ºC and may be used until the expiry date given on the label.

Expiry:

Shelf life - 2 years from the date of manufacture.

Supply:

Salmonella antisera supplied in ampoules containing 1ml volume in liquid form.

Vibrio cholerae Antisera

Description:

Vibrio cholerae antisera are a set of 3 ampoules (1 ml each of Vibrio cholerae ogawa,Inaba & Polyvalent) for the detection of specific V. cholerae O1. The antisera are prepared in rabbits hyperimmunising with standard strains of V.cholerae O1 Inaba and ogawa. All sera are absorbed to remove cross-reacting agglutinins and filter sterilized (0.22µm). Vibrio cholerae antisera are available in 1ml ampoule and contain 0.01% thiomersal as preservative.

Product:

Antisera Vibrio cholerae ogawa Vibrio cholerae Inaba Vibrio cholerae polyvalent
Packing 1ml 1ml 1ml

Composition:

  • Antisera raised in rabbit of Vibrio cholerae inaba and ogawa strains.
  • Thiomersal 0.01 % as preservative
  • Titer - 1:80
  • V. cholera polyvalent – Only for slide agglutination test.

Intended use:

Determination of Vibrio cholera O1 serovar Inaba & Ogawa.

Principle of the test:

The suspected V.cholerae O1 culture is identified serologically with the help of set of antisera upto serovar level. The test is conducted as slide agglutination test or tube agglutination test. Formation of agglutination shows positive reaction and absence of agglutination shows negative reaction.

Warnings and Precautions:

  1. These reagents are provided for in vitro diagnostic use only.
  2. Do not use beyond the expiry date.
  3. Wear appropriate protective clothing while handling infectious organisms.
  4. Follow aseptic techniques while testing.
  5. Thiomersal is toxic if ingested.
  6. Do not freeze the antisera. Freezing and thawing may produce precipitation and result in loss of activity of the reagent.

Storage:

Vibrio cholerae antisera should be stored at 2-8ºC and may be used until the expiry date given on the label if handled aseptically.

Expiry:

Shelf life - 2 years from the date of manufacture.

Supply:

Vibrio cholerae antisera supplied in ampoules containing 1ml volume in liquid form.
